Labour Forecast Calculator
Option B · Fixed revenue productivity target across all company FTE
Formula: FTE Required = Recognised Revenue KPI ÷ Target Average Revenue per FTE. Use matching periods (for example, monthly revenue and monthly revenue per FTE). This is a total-company FTE equivalent, not an installer-only headcount.
Installer Labour Forecast Calculator
Option B · Company-wide revenue target, installer-only output
Installer requirements are calculated using the revenue target per FTE.
Formula: Total company FTE required = Revenue KPI ÷ Target Average Revenue per FTE. Installers required = total company FTE required − office/non-installation FTE. Additional installers needed = the greater of zero or installers required − current installer FTE.
Important assumption: This calculation assumes the revenue target per FTE is appropriate for the whole company and holds office/non-installation FTE constant. Validate the result against actual installation capacity.
Think Solar Labour Forecast
Forecast installer capacity using historical recognised revenue. Office and support staff are included in company-wide productivity.
Installer requirements are based on historical recognised revenue per installer FTE.
Formulas: Revenue per installer FTE = historical actual recognised revenue ÷ historical installer FTE. Installers required = KPI ÷ revenue per installer FTE, rounded up to a whole installer. Company-wide revenue per FTE = historical revenue ÷ current total company FTE.
Use the same period for historical revenue and installer FTE. This forecast assumes historical productivity is a reasonable guide to future capacity. Seasonality, job mix, downtime and installation complexity can affect results.
